Cookie Policy

How we use cookies and similar technologies, and your choices and controls.

Effective: July 1, 2026

This policy explains the cookies Tourist SOS uses on this website, why we use them, and how you can control them. We keep this list short and honest: we describe only what we actually set, not a generic template.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit it. Similar technologies — like local storage — do the same basic job: they let a site remember information about your visit, such as whether you're signed in or how you like a page to look. Cookies don't, by themselves, identify you by name, but they can be used to recognize your browser across visits.

2. How we use cookies

We use a small number of cookies, grouped into three categories:

  • Strictly necessary. These keep the site working and secure — for example, maintaining your signed-in session, protecting against cross-site request forgery, and balancing load across our servers. Because the site can't function properly without them, these cookies cannot be switched off.
  • Functional / preference. These remember choices you make so we don't have to ask again — for example, your light/dark theme preference. They make the site more pleasant to use but aren't required for it to work.
  • Analytics. We use Google Analytics, with IP anonymization enabled, to understand how the site is used in aggregate — which pages are visited, how people navigate, and where things break. This helps us improve the site; it is not used to build an advertising profile of you.

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies for cross-site ad targeting, and we do not sell or share cookie data with ad networks.

3. Your choices & controls

Most browsers let you view, block, or delete cookies through their settings. You can generally set your browser to refuse all cookies, accept only certain cookies, or alert you when a cookie is being set. Because this is controlled by your browser, the exact steps vary — check your browser's help documentation for how to manage cookies.

We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) and Do Not Track (DNT) signals for non-essential cookies: when your browser sends one of these signals, we do not set functional or analytics cookies for that visit.

Please note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may break core site functionality, such as staying signed in or completing a form.

4. Changes

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time — for example, if we start using a new cookie category or a new analytics tool. The “Effective” date at the top of this page reflects the latest version. If we make a material change, we'll update that date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.

5. More information & contact

This Cookie Policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains more broadly what information we collect and how we use it. If you have questions about this policy or how we use cookies, email privacy@tourist-sos.com.

This page reflects our cookie practices as of July 1, 2026 and will be updated if those practices change.
